The judiciary takes proactive steps to 'help bridge the misinformation gap'' and educate the community on the principles judges are required to adopt when sentencing.'

The government will introduce legislation to allow television cameras into the Supreme Court for verdicts and sentences.

The proposal would help counter the ''frustration'' the judiciary... feel by providing the opportunity for judges to explain their reasons. ''The public doesn't fully understand the difficulties of sentencing and the intricacies of it.'' - Attorney-General Greg Smith.
